What Does the Research Reveal?

Strengths-based development is a proven model to improve performance on crucial business outcomes. A Gallup meta-analysis of 1.2 employees in 7 industries and 45 countries found that employees that receive strengths based feedback are:

  • 6 times more likely to be engaged in their jobs
  • 3 times more likely to report having an excellent quality of life
  • Teams who focus on strengths every day have 12.5% greater productivity
  • Teams who focus on strengths every day have 18% increased performance

What About Weaknesses?

There is a myth that strengths philosophy suggests we should ignore our weaknesses. Not true! No one can dismiss gaps in performance or critical feedback at work. Paradoxically, it is often the shadow side of our strengths that can hinder us, which is why this self awareness tool is so powerful. Gallup-certified coaches can help you calibrate your strengths and manage around your weaknesses. We find that the common language of strengths makes people more open to feedback and difficult performance conversations.
